Overview

Prof Steve Draper completed his PhD, investigating the energetics of middle distance running, in 2002.  Steve has considerable expertise in sport and exercise physiology (in particular oxygen uptake kinetics) and the modelling of athletic performance.  Steve has many peer-reviewed publications -across a broad range of areas of sport, exercise and health and has supervised 20 research degrees to completion. He co-founded the renowned Clem Burke Drumming Project and is currently investigating the effects of music performance on health and wellbeing across a range of populations. Steve has worked in applied sport science for a range of sports including the Olympic Boxing Project and has a wealth of expertise in the assessment of athletic performance. He has spoken publicly about his research, including the Cheltenham Science Festival, the Dublin Science Gallery and the Royal Society and has made many appearances on national and international media.   Steve is currently a professor and the Academic Dean (Research and Knowledge Exchange) at Hartpury University.
