Dr Sienna Taylor teaches Introduction to Animal Welfare, Measuring Animal Behaviour, Companion Animal Behaviour and Training and Pet Behaviour Counselling. She also leads undergraduate dissertation and mentors undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation students.
I am a Lecturer in Animal Behaviour & Welfare, with specialism in natural odours and pheromones to reduce stress in mammals. I completed a FdSc and BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare at the University West of England (UWE-Hartpury) where I focused my research on domestic cats and use of vertical space. I then completed an MSc in Animal Behaviour at the University of Exeter completing research on the efficacy of Pet Remedy to reduce stress in dogs. I have recently completed a DPhil titled 'The effect of odours and synthetic pheromones on reducing stress-related behaviour in the confined domestic dog'. I have been in my current role as a Lecturer at Hartpury since 2015. I am a member of the University's Animal and Agriculture Research Group.
Sienna's research interests focus on the use of natural odours and synthetic pheromones for stress relief in companion animals. Sienna is also interested in how sensory enrichment can help improve the welfare of domestic cats, dogs and also horses.
