Personal profile

Overview

In my role as Associate Head of Department for Equine Science, I am responsible for oversight of a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and manage a team of academic staff. I sit on several committees contributing to institution-wide academic quality processes and policy generation. I am an experienced and passionate lecturer, and believe firmly in a student-centred, collaborative and experiential approach to learning.

Current teaching

My equine-specific teaching is focussed on equine therapy and rehabilitation and equestrian biomechanics, where I adopt a constructivist and collaborative approach to engage learners with concepts in an applied and immersive manner.

I am also passionate about removing barriers to research for our students, and through my leadership of a level 5 research methods module and in collaboration with several colleagues, have designed initiatives which aim to make research at the institution accessible and inclusive.
