Personal profile

Overview

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience of working in both small animal and equine practice, I have taught Veterinary Nursing at Hartpury since 2016 and am currently a Lecturer and Programme Manager for the DPS course.

I currently lecturer across level 5 and 6 modules on both our BSc and DPS provision. I am also a dissertation supervisor and academic tutor, in this role I enjoy supporting students throughout their projects with the aim to publish their work. I have previously completed a PGCHE and am a fellow of the HEA.

I have a MRes in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and have a keen interest in behavioural research. I have previously published work in this field and presented my research at relevant conferences. I have also published work relating to advanced diagnostic imaging and complex condition medical management in the past.

My main areas of interest for future research include:

  • Exploring animal behaviour in a veterinary setting and identifying fear-free practice and progressive methods of behavioural management, including how patient and owner support could be improved.
  • Ethical breeding development of companion animals, with a focus on welfare, health and genetic inheritance
  • International welfare organisations
  • Diagnostic imaging, include the use of advanced modalities.
