Dr Gareth Knox

Gareth has been working at Hartpury University for the past 11 years and currently holds the position of Associate Head of Department (Applied Sports Science and Commercial). Having completed a PhD in 2012, Gareth's research intersets surround paediatric health and exercise, focussing on the design and implementation of school based interventions to promote physical activity behaviour. Previous research has focussed on the effects of school based interventions on cardiometabolic risk, identifying predictors of cardiovascular risk in children and adolescence including identification of aerobic fintess thresholds. Gareth currently leads and delivers on modules surrounding health and exercise and has just succesfully supervised a PhD to completion investigating a school based intervention to improve movement ability in children. In his current role, Gareth line manages a number of staff in the Department of Sport and has responsibility for the commercial use of the new sports science laboratories on campus linking with external organisations, schools and individuals to offer sports science testing support.
