Dr. Emma Davies PhD, Senior Lecturer (Research) in Equestrian Performance, & Programme Manager BSc (Hons) Equestrian Sports Science at Hartpury University.
Research interests
Research interests include the psychology of athletic injury in equestrian sport (horse & human injury), psychological demands of horse riders, rider performance and wellbeing, and occupational demands on horse racing stable staff.
Currently working on research studying the psychological responses to injury in horseracing stable staff, and sleep practices in FEI event riders.
Current teaching
Currently teaching modules across levels 4 - 6, specializing in horse & rider performance and sport psychology.
Academic Partnership Liaison to British Racing School FdSc Horseracing Industry.
Supervisor for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dissertations.

Research and knowledge exchange collaborations
Research Collaboration with Racing Welfare on PhD: Investigating psychological responses to injury in horseracing stud and stable staff.
Co-Collaborator and presenter for Key Stage 3 workshops on anatomy & physiology at Cheltenham Science Festival. Assistant presenter for Large Animal dissection demo also held at Science Festival.
Organize Pony Club & Pony Racing workshops to offer fitness and position advice to young children entering pony racing. Led workshops for Pony Club camps on rider fitness.
Invited Speaker for British Dressage workshops, including BD Sports Science Day 2023 for National Academy Riders, regional para-dressage and dressage training days, and BD South West Little Leg Up series.
