Overview
Ms. Aisling Carroll - Equine Science senior lecturer within the HE Equine Department. Research background and interests lie within the field of microbiology - specifically animal health, microbiome development and antimicrobial resistance.
Currently undertaking a PhD at Hartpury University invesitgating dairy management practice and calf microbiome development in relation to health and welfare.
Current teaching
Currently teaching modules across levels 4 - 6, specializing in microbiology & Health & Disease.
Supervisory role for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dissertations.
Senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Research interests
Research interests include the influence of the microbiome on animal health, wellbeing and perfromance, antimicrobial susceptibilty, the effectiveness of biosecurity and management practices.
Currently working on research studying the Influence on the GIT microbiome on calf health and growth. I am working with industry through this project and the research is supported by Lallemand with finial contributions from Edgar Pye Scholarship awarded by the The Society of Feed Technologists.
Membership of the Animal Welfare Arena and Equine Performance Research Centre, member & Convenor of the Science Communication Community of Practice.
ISES local organising committee member. Alltech-Hartpury conference committee member. Outreach corodinator for the Equine department. Outreach lead at the Cheltenham Science Festival. Assistant for Large Animal dissection demo also held at Science Festival.

Member of the British Society of Animal Science (BSAS) and the Microbiology Society.
