University tutors frequently encounter challenging conversations with students whether around issues of belonging, confidence, academic performance, or decisions about continuing their studies. This session introduces coaching conversations as a practical and supportive framework for guiding such conversations with empathy, clarity, and CARE. Participants will explore how coaching techniques can deepen understanding of student needs while fostering personal agency. Students will be sharing their experiences of engaging in tutorials where coaching conversations have been adopted. Through real-life scenarios and hands-on practice, attendees will engage in guided dialogue exercises that enhance both their conversational skills and self-awareness. By the end of the session, participants will leave with coaching-informed tools and approaches they can apply in their own tutorial settings to support student wellbeing, motivation, and confidence.
